Everyone expected a low turnout, but 18.1% is amazingly low. Credit the press with the failure to publicize the unprecedented number of choices in the US Senate race. With 27 candidates there was someone for every position and there should have been respectable turnout.

My campaign did much better than expected. I was running with a message for campaign finance reform and never expected my Senate campaign to survive (see Pheidippides). Dollar to donuts, my campaign was over three times as effective than the winner Adam Schiff. I received about 10,000 votes and spent less than a dollar a vote. Schiff spent over three dollars a vote and had significant free press and name recognition. People are ready for campaign finance reform.
