One of our two icebreakers was launched in America’s Bicentennial. Its sister ship launched a year later. In 2026 we should celebrate these two intrepid ships and the crews that keep our entire Northern border and oil fields safe from Russian incursions. Remember Alaska, like the Ukraine, is historically Russian territory. Good thing Putin is busy fighting his imaginary nazis until we can build more ice breakers. Otherwise we are just drilling wells for Putin.

There’s much ado about our Southern border where illegal immigrants cross to find work as farm workers and meat processors. They get jobs because of shoddy immigration status checks. Not that we can afford enforcement of immigration laws on employers. We would starve and produce would rot in the fields without turning a blind eye to the influx of people willing to illegally do hard labor at low wages.

On the Southern border do we need immigration reform or a wall? Israel has a good wall, but it didn’t seem to deter terrorists from crossing. Better intelligence ands vigilance is needed. Most of our fentanyl is smuggled in shipping containers not on the backs of immigrants. Let’s strengthen inspections and security checks at our ports and border crossings.

It’s time to end the Senate filibuster, debate immigration reform, and enact fair legislation. Our corporate farmers and food processors shouldn’t have to be scofflaws. Our politicians shouldn’t use immigration as a political stunt for their fundraising. Legislators should cast their votes and be held accountable.
