“…Government of the People, By the People, For the people, Shall Not Perish From the Earth.” -Lincoln

Lincoln advocated for “the Perpetuation of our Political Institutions” in his 1838 speech of the same name. He said that we must adhere unyielding to the laws and Constitution, and where those laws were unjust, we must work to change them legally.

After America’s most deadly war, America amended the Constitution to expand voting rights to all races. On average, every 50 years the United States expands liberty, jubilant days for slaves, women, and adults of draft age.

While America has a flawed democracy, we should forever strive for a more perfect union. We are due for a new constitutional amendment to expand liberty for all men and women. Our elections are overwhelmed by the influence of money and corporations. Money is not speech and corporations are not people.

The Democracy Awareness Project aims to promote the continuation of our democratic experiment and continue to inspire democracy in our global neighbors. We can only do this by showing our support for democracy. Words are not enough.

The Democracy Awareness Project advocates with an icon inspired by our National March, “the Stars and Stripes Forever,” and Lincoln’s speeches including his conclusion of the Gettysburg address, “…Government of the People, By the People, For the people, Shall Not Perish From the Earth.”

Your donation will help support neighborhood outreach and distribution of Democracy Awareness stickers and ribbons.
