Oliver Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond” has 20 million or more views in its first 10 days on YouTube.

I like the song, but unlike MTG, I interpret the obese on welfare as the morbidly wealthy taking corporate welfare. That is way more of a problem than food stamps or other compassion for the poor amongst us.

Anthony claims to be middle of the road and distrustful of both parties. As a non-politician working to change the status quo, I have had my doubts about my own party, but they seem better than the alternative and the election deniers.

I’d be pleased if Anthony wore one of our indivisible Star Spangled ribbons to promote Democracy Awareness and encouraging average Americans to believe in democracy again: get out and vote, learn about the issues, and run for something. It doesn’t have to be rich men north of Richmond.
